Path of ExileWhy Escape from Tarkov Loses Connection to the Server and How to Fix It
Method 1: ExitLag (Recommended)
What is ExitLag and why can it help?
ExitLag is a program designed to optimize network connections in online games. It analyzes the route between your computer and game servers and tries to find a more stable path for data transmission, bypassing problematic network points.
In some cases, this helps eliminate packet loss, sudden ping spikes, and connection drops. The setup process is extremely simple: just select the required game, and the program will automatically suggest suitable connection settings.
Besides Escape from Tarkov, ExitLag also works with other online games where the quality of the route to servers directly affects connection stability.
Why try ExitLag instead of manual configuration?
✅ You do not need to search for IP addresses or manually add exceptions — the game database is already built into the program.
✅ Automatically selects the appropriate route and connection parameters.
✅ Works not only with Escape from Tarkov but also with other online games.
✅ A trial period is available to check whether the program solves your specific issue.
✅ Receives regular updates and developer support.
How to set up ExitLag for Escape from Tarkov
- Download and install ExitLag from the official website.
- Create an account and launch the program (you can use the trial period for testing).
- Search for Escape from Tarkov and add the game.
- Leave the recommended settings — in most cases, the program automatically selects the optimal configuration.
- Click the optimization start button and then launch the game through the regular Battlestate Games launcher.
After launching, ExitLag will run in the background and automatically maintain the selected connection route. If the error was caused by unstable routing to the servers, this can remove constant disconnects and make the connection more stable.
Tip: Before changing advanced settings, try the default mode first. In most cases, automatic optimization works better than manual configuration.
Method 2: Zapret (For Those Who Like to Tinker)
Method 2. Zapret — A Free Solution with Manual Setup
If you don't want to use third-party software like ExitLag, you can try the free alternative called zapret. It is a utility designed to bypass network restrictions and operates at the connection level, helping in situations where issues are caused by routing problems or ISP restrictions.
The main downside of this method is that everything has to be configured manually. You'll need to add the game's domains, modify several configuration files, and run the required scripts. The good news is that once everything is set up, it works completely free.
Step 1. Download zapret
First, download the latest version of zapret from the official project repository:
https://github.com/Flowseal/zapret-discord-youtube/releases
(If you're worried about viruses, you can scan every file with VirusTotal. This is the official project repository.)
After downloading, extract the archive to any convenient folder. It's recommended not to place it inside system directories such as Program Files—a separate folder on your desktop or another drive is a better choice.
Step 2. Add Escape from Tarkov domains
Open the lists folder inside the zapret directory and locate the file:
list-general.txt
Open it with Notepad and add the following domains to the end of the file:
escapefromtarkov.com gw-pvp.eft.tarkov.com wsn-01.escapefromtarkov.com wsn-02.escapefromtarkov.com gw.prod.arena.tarkov.com escapefromtarkov.ru prod.escapefromtarkov.com profile.tarkov.com launcher.tarkov.com gw-pve.eft.tarkov.com status.escapefromtarkov.com challenges.cloudflare.com launcher-seq.eft-project.com wsn-03.escapefromtarkov.com battlestategames.com amazon.comSave the file.
Step 3. Add IP ranges
In the same lists folder, locate:
ipset-all.txt
Scroll to the bottom and add the following subnets:
103.21.244.0/22 103.22.200.0/22 103.31.4.0/22 104.16.0.0/13 104.24.0.0/14 108.162.192.0/18 131.0.72.0/22 141.101.64.0/18 162.158.0.0/15 172.64.0.0/13 173.245.48.0/20 188.114.96.0/20 190.93.240.0/20 197.234.240.0/22 198.41.128.0/17Save the changes.
Step 4. Install the zapret service
Return to the main zapret folder and find:
Service.bat
Run it as Administrator.
When the menu appears, enter:
4
and press Enter.
Wait for the installation to finish. When prompted to restart your computer, press:
Y
Step 5. Configure the settings
After the restart, launch Service.bat as Administrator again.
Now change the following settings:
- Press 2 to enable Game Filter (its status should become enabled).
- Press 6 to set ipset to any.
Once both settings are applied, close the window.
Step 6. Start the bypass
In the zapret folder, locate the file that starts with:
general
For example:
- general.cmd
- general.bat
Run it by right-clicking and selecting Run as administrator.
If everything is configured correctly, a console window with log messages will appear. Leave this window open while playing—it is responsible for maintaining the bypass.
After that, launch Escape from Tarkov and check whether the "Server Connection Lost" error has disappeared.
Checking the Result
Checking the Result
Launch Escape from Tarkov through the official launcher and try joining a raid. If everything was configured correctly, the "Server Connection Lost" error should no longer appear, and your connection should be much more stable.
If the issue is still present, restart your computer and repeat Steps 4–5 (or make sure the bypass script is running, if you're using zapret).
Which Method Should You Choose?
Both methods can solve connection issues, but ExitLag is generally the easier and more convenient option.
- No need to manually edit configuration files or search for up-to-date IP addresses.
- Automatically optimizes network routing for Escape from Tarkov and many other online games.
- Can reduce ping and improve overall connection stability.
- Includes a free trial, so you can test whether it solves your problem before deciding to subscribe.
If you'd rather spend your time playing instead of troubleshooting your network, ExitLag is the recommended place to start.
